Stannington Choir Temporary Closure

Covd19 picture

Dear Choir members, friends, followers and supporters of Stannington Choir

It is with a very sad heart that myself and the leadership team have decided to temporarily close our thursday night practices until further notice due to the COVID-19 Virus. We will also postpone the spring concert until later in the year.

This decision is not taken lightly but given the advise from the government and the NHS asking people to avoid social gatherings such as bars, theatres, clubs and restaurants I felt we had no choice. I have also consulted with our friends in other choirs and they are closing down too. Finally I’m receiving details from the Methodist church that they are closing many of their premises both for church services and building users. With all this in mind the decision has been made jointly with the full support of the leadership team.

I am personally very upset at having to take this course of action and will dearly miss singing and meeting with all of you my friends. However the health of all of you and your families  has to come first and the government and NHS advise should not be ignored.

I will try to keep in touch regularly with you all and will keep sending you emails and facebook posts with news of what is happing. I would ask each of you to stay safe and bear with us in these unusual times and I look forward to seeing you all as soon as its safe to resume.

To our recently joined and new members I know this will come as a blow. Please dont be discouraged and come back and sing with us when we restart in the near future.

Hello David and all choir members,
It is a very sad situation, but the health and safety of all our choir members is the primary priority.
Hopefully, we will all be together again when the current crisis is over: in the mean time – keep practicing and when we resume, we will all be fully in-tune!! Best wishes to you all, Sue Mason x
